Inspired By...

In this section we've decided to post about our fashion icons and/or inspirations.

Shea's inspired by...
Gwen Stefani. Love. Her. I fell in love with the music of No Doubt back in the early 90s. First concert I ever went to with my fellow No Doubt fanatic, Mariah. My poor dad had to take us because we were much too young to be at Sandstone arena by ourselves! I admire how Gwen always took risks in her fashion. Her style evolved and changed as did her music and career. Her LAMB clothing line has some truly amazing pieces, none of which I can afford unfortunately. She doesn't always get it right but damn does she look effortlessly cool trying!
Though not an actual person, Carrie Bradshaw is another fashion inspiration for me. I admit, this one is sort of  a gimme but I can't help it. I've loved her style since the show first aired. I also know that the real person behind the outfits isn't "Carrie" but rather the super talented Patricia Field but let's just ignore that for the purpose of this post. Carrie's outfits always pushed the envelope (sometimes walking a thin line between edgy and ridiculous). I really like how she mixes patterns and colours and she has a love of dresses like myself!! Similar to Gwen, I admire that Carrie takes risks with fashion even if it doesn't always pay off.

I did a lot more of that in my younger days. I prided myself on wearing unconventional attire (I once wore a pair of pants made from silver plastic material and a gypsy print scarf for a top!) These days I still strive to buy things that are unique in some way and maybe not what everyone would wear. I've definitely toned it down and I'm hoping this blog will encourage me to pick it back up...at least a little bit!   Shea x

Angela's inspired by...

Audrey Hepburn

My first is Audrey Hepburn.  I love that her classic looks could be worn today and no one would think you looked odd.  Her look was that timeless. She always looked so classy and striking.  The pieces she wore are still being copied and re-styled by Gap, Banana Republic, J. Crew and fashion designers.

My second "icon" is not as legendary as Audrey Hepburn.  One lady that I really appreciate is Eve Mendes.  She carries herself with confidence.  Eva Mendes is not afraid to be sexy.  I think she also wears some lovely timeless pieces.
