Back to the Re-Mix - Links à la Mode

I decided to switch out a brown turtle neck for this ruffled yellow blouse to liven up my 30 for 30 re-mix experience.  I needed more color!  I will definitely be more careful in choosing my pieces next time.  I chose items that I didn't really like to find new ways to use them.  I have discovered I do love a few of these pieces.  I needed to include more color and a few more pieces I already knew that I loved!

I'm excited to find new ways to wear this silk shirt from Gap.  It was another cold day, so I paired the light weight ruffled tank top with a heavy tweed brown blazer from H&M and red tweed pants from J. Crew.  I really love the subtle red and yellow in this blazer.

Today is also the first night of my bible study for the season!  I am actually catholic, but I enjoy a United Methodist bible study group.  We will be studying the life and journey of Paul!

Wine Tasting

On Friday I had the privilege of hosting a wine tasting for our local Women Attorney's Association.  We had lovely wine from Grace Hill Winery.  I have to say that the "Chloe's Cuvee" Kansas White Wine was my favorite.  The "Tornado" which was a sweeter red wine was also great.

I wore a black floral dress from Dillard's by Jessica Howard with a black Express turtle neck beneath.  I love the ruffled high neck of this dress.  I also wore Tiffany's silver ball necklace and silver ball earrings.

And the Winner Is...

It was election weekend in Ireland. This meant that the whole country was very interested in politics the past few weeks and especially the past few days. My post today is short and sweet because we went back to Killarney so David could vote on Friday. I unfortunately could not vote since I'm not yet a citizen...this made me sad...but I am hopeful that the newly elected government won't make such a bollocks of things!

Day 24:
For this day I chose to mix the polka dot patterns and black and navy blue...oooh. Not sure that it completely worked but I gave it the old college try, as they say. Also, if my hair hadn't been a mess I would have left it down which might have made a difference. Here I'm wearing the tunic top from High Street Fashion under the polka dot dress from Penneys. I wore the leggings from Topshop and the red mary janes from New Look to finish it off.

Day 25:
Yet another outfit that never would have existed if I hadn't been forced to be creative. I wore the pixelated dress from New Look as a top and put the high waisted denim skirt from Dorothy Perkins over it. Finished it off with the black heels from New Look. I think this turned out quite subtly sexy and though my legs and arms were a bit chilly, it was okay because I spent most of my time yesterday either driving or indoors where it was warm!

Day 26:
Today I brought back the pink dress from Dunnes. I made it more casual by adding the boyfriend blazer from Bershka and the leggings from Topshop and boots from Penneys. I was on a top knot kick for my hair for some reason the last few days so it's up again in this pic. Promise I will have it down in the next few...well if it behaves!

Stay classy, fashionistas! ♥

Rainy Days

Monday of this week I wore a belted Antonio Melani tapestry dress with a yellow Dorothy Perkins cardigan that Shea gave me! The exciting addition was definitely my Steve Madden shows that have bows on the side! I decided to take a few days off of making outfits for the 30 for 30 challenge for the first few days of this week.  I was entirely BORED of the same clothing items.  I needed some color in my life! I'm sorry friends....I broke.  The rules do officially note that it can take you 30 days or three years!

Wednesday of this week was a lovely warm day.  I took advantage of the loveliness and wore a silk striped shirt from Club Monaco.  I wore it with an Antonio Melani Jacket and Victoria's Secret Pants.  I thought it needed a bit more glam so I wore a long string of pearls wrapped around several times.  I then attached a brooch to the pearls.  The brooch and pearls are Premier Jewelry.   This was not a 30 for 30 challenge outfit...I had a court appearance today and needed a proper looking suit!

Outfit 24 of the 30 for 30 challenge from Kendi Everyday was a bit rainy.  Apparently we reached our high of 41 degrees at 9 am!  Gone were the lovely weekend days of 60 degree temperatures.  I wrote my Forever 21 Brown Blazer with the ModCloth navy jumper.  Underneath the jumper is my trusty white Gap shirt that seems to layer nicely with everything!  I also wore a Forever 21 large locket.  I wore "nurture" shoes that are soo comfortable.  They are similar to the Sofft brand.

Take Me Out

Well I have been suffering from a bit of insomnia this week. I really should be sleeping right now but alas I am not the least bit tired! Gonna force myself to catch some zzzzz's after this post goes up...

Day 22:
Last night I went to a local bar Costigan's for their spin on Take Me Out, a dating show that currently has both a UK and an Irish version. Quite hilarious stuff most of the time. The start time was supposed to be 9pm but in true Irish form it didn't kick off until closer to 11...typical! We (dragged the hubs along as well as my friend Michael) were pretty entertained until it became clear that most of the 'dates' were fixed! Booo...hoping next time there will be a bit more order to the whole thing too. Crazy chaotic! Anyway, I wore a new piece in my remix collection. This dress is a pixelated floral print with a zipper front from New Look. It's the only piece of clothing I own with this design. I wore it with the green cardi from Dorothy Perkins, leggings from Topshop and boots from Penneys.
Day 23:
Today I went over to the girls' place for dinner and a flick. I wore another new piece from the total collection. This time it was an animal print top from Charlotte Russe. It is sort of roomy but you can't really tell since it's underneath the pinafore dress from Warehouse. Leggings from Topshop and flats from Dunnes finished off my casual look for the evening. We watched The Other Guys and I thought it was pretty good in a weird kinda way! Every time I watch Mark Wahlburg in a movie though I just wait for him to start rapping about Good Vibrations LoL!!

Lovely weekend

It was a relaxing weekend at home.  (i.e. I was wearing comfy leggings the rest of the weekend).  This was my outfit for church!  I pretty much framed the outfit around my new leaf necklace! I have been wanting one like this.  I finally found it yesterday at an Estate sale I visited.  You can read more about the Estate sale and other goodies I purchased here.  The necklace was only $2.00.  I love Estate sales, it's lovely to find new ways to use people's treasures.

What I wore:
Gold leaf necklace - from Estate sale - $2.00
Pink Tights - Xhilaration - Target - $5.00
Brown Velvet Jumper - Thrifted - $20.00.
Brown Bandolino Booties - Ebay - $15.00

Shape Shifting

For the last few days I've been playing with shapes and putting pieces together that I don't think I would have if it weren't for 30 for 30. Like Ang though, I must say I am getting quite bored with remixing my 30 pieces. Can't wait to get back to my other clothes!!!

Day 20:
This day I tried the navy blue polka dot tunic from High Street Fashion and wore it under the black pinafore dress from Warehouse. The black leggings from Topshop and wedge boots from Penneys completed this outfit. I actually really liked the shape the puff sleeves created teamed with the dress. Sorry about the bad pic here...I tried several times to get a better one but in the end just had to use this one! Grr...

Day 21:
Today I mixed it up again with the green tunic top I thrifted from Stitch or Switch and the pinstripe waistcoat from New Look. I didn't have anywhere to go today so that's why I got away with bare shoulders! I wore the top over the skinny Baxter jeans from Topshop and gave the outfit a kick of colour with the red mary janes from New Look. The gold key necklace from UO added a touch of bling! ;)

Sunny Days

Day 17 of the 30 for 30 remix was an unseasonably warm day in Kansas.  It was also very windy! Thus, all of my pictures have my hair flying around a bit.

What I wore:
Ralph Lauren Brown Velvet Pants from Dillard's.
Yellow and White Merona Cardigan from Target.
White ribbed Shirt - Gap.
Earrings - Grecian Glass from Shea's Etsy shop! I also wore the earrings on this day.

It was a bit colder on Day 18.  However, I think Spring is just around the corner.  In the spirit of enjoying my back yard I decided to buy a chiminea! I had a lovely time last night firing it up for the first time.  You can check it out here.

Because it was a bit colder I decided to wear a sweater dress.  I'm not sure how long I will be able to wear sweaters as it gets warmer!

Then my puppy Pistol wanted to get in on the action!

What I wore:
Sweater Dress - Express
Black Leggings - Simply Vera - Kohl's
Black Leather Boots - Anne Klein
Black Turtle Neck - Express

One More Pint Please...

So here are the latest 30 for 30 remix outfits:

Day 17:
On the seventeenth day I wore the Penneys black & white polka dot dress over the black leggings from Topshop. Of course my wedge boots from Penneys completed the look! I thought I'd spice up the colour scheme with the flowy top from Charlotte Russe but I'm not sure I really liked how it looked in the end. Perhaps mixing plaid and polka dots was not the best idea...

Day 18:
Much more successful with this day's outfit. The floral Dorothy Perkins dress with the electric blue A/wear cardigan, black leggings from Topshop and the wedge boots from Penneys. I quite liked this outfit and (although the pic doesn't show it very well) my hair looked pretty good too!

Day 19:
Tonight I wore this to go to my friend Michael's house party. I think it might have been a good idea to post before I went out. It is taking me a long time to type this post out because I keep having to fix my typing mistakes. Pints will make you lose your concentration!! This was a nice casual outfit for a house party/going out on the piss. The bird detail dress from Penneys needed a little something to keep my shoulders warm so the blazer from Bershka came in handy. Over black tights from New Look, the trusty Penneys boots and the silver heart pendant from Topshop, I was super styling! ;)

Fabulous Friday

Happy Friday to you all!!

This week I decided to have a bit of non-fashion related posting and put up some pics of my latest knitting project! I've just finished it last weekend and I feel quite a sense of accomplishment. It took a lot of work to put together...she needs a name though. Any suggestions???

This week's WTF Fashion of the Week goes to....

Blazers galore!

It is getting harder and harder to re-mix my outfits.  I can't believe I'm saying that and we're only half done!  An odd result of this re-mix has been that I now appreciate my other clothes so much more! There are so many lovely pieces that I miss dearly! I didn't realize how much I enjoy variety.  The up side is that I will be wearing many of these pieces in new ways.

For day 14 I re-styled my Modcloth navy shift dress.  I wore it with my favorite LBB ("Little Brown Blazer").   This one is from Forever 21.  I love the flecks of other colors like yellow and red in it.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty.  I feel pretty and witty and gay! Yay for Westside Story! Anyway, on Day 15 I did feel pretty.  I wore a purple dress from Chadwicks with a bow tie neckline.  I wore the dress with a Merona balzer from Target.  The shoes are Anne Klein.  I'm still a bit undecided on this dress.  I think it's a bit too long for my proportions.  Also I wish the skirt were a bit more fitted!

Day 16 of the 30 for 30 Remix was a bit cold and foggy.  You can see some pics of our foggy day here.  It did make it up to 70 by the afternoon. But, alas it was not sunny or warm yet when these pics were taken.  I am so looking forward to warmer weather!

This is a forever 21 Tweed Blazer with Victoria's Secret Pants.  I wore an Express Black Sweater over a Grey Silk Patterned Shirt that was Thrifted.  I didn't realize until a co-worker commented on how it looks like this blazer shrunk.  No, it did not shrink.  I just didn't care this morning that it had 3/4 sleeves.  I guess it does look a bit odd to wear long sleeves under a jacket with 3/4 length sleeves.
